BEAU Unveils Life Drawing Sessions

BEAU, life drawings There’s something peaceful yet social about sketching live models. It’s an opportunity to get together with like minded people with a range of skills and abilities while escaping into your own personal artistic expression. Broadview Entertainment Arts University (BEAU) and Sketch Cabaret are teaming up to offer the BEAU Life Drawing Sessions this summer.

The gatherings are being held every Friday night from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at BEAU and are open to the public. No experience is necessary and the setting is designed to be a drawing lab with no instruction. The forum can also be used as a workshop for students and artists. While the sessions are a perfect opportunity for novices to develop their skills, it is also a way to foster the arts scene as whole.

“The drawing lab is important to the art community because it is a structure that is pretty rare,” says event organizer and BEAU Program Chair Garrick Dean. “I would describe it as filling a need for the art community and for BEAU’s students.”

The Life Drawing Sessions provide a unique opportunity for artists in the Wasatch Front. Each lab has a different theme with attendees either sketching life drawing nude, Cosplay, exotic animals or a mix of the three. The labs run through September but BEAU plans to bring them back again in the fall.BEAU, life drawings

“We’re really hoping this will work out so we can provide more of it,” added Dean. “We’re trying to mix it up for all people. I would like to see us be as inventive as possible with the subject matter we are showing.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own supplies but there will also be some materials on hand. For a schedule of events, pricing information and to find out more about Sketch Cabaret, check out the Facebook event.
