On Nov. 28, the PushButton Summit took place in Sandy, Utah. Several BEAU staff members and students attended the event and had the opportunity to learn more about Utah’s digital media industry.
Some of the technology companies involved in PushButton Summit included Deseret Digital, EA (Electronic Arts), Smart Bomb Interactive and Epic games, to name just a few. Whether our students are in Game Art, Graphic Design or Digital Video Production programs, there were several sessions that provided valuable information for their future careers.
Many companies shared their expertise on the state of digital media in Utah. Smart Bomb Interactive was involved in several sessions relating to the gaming industry. As a leader in the producing games in Utah and nationally, they gave a lot of good information for our students to use as they advance through their game art degree program.
BEAU has been honored to have several members of Smart Bomb Interactive on our Program Advisory Board, weighing in on the knowledge and skills students should have in order to be successful in the digital video and media field.
In addition, there were several governmental agencies at the summit, including the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and the Department of Workforce services.
Mike McCluskey from the Department of Workforce Services said, “It was great to see education institutions, like BEAU, along with technology companies, the Department of Workforce Services and people looking to advance themselves in the digital media industry all come together at the PushButton Summit.”
Overall, it was a great example of the types of events, conferences and industry trade shows that BEAU participates in to enhance our students’ educational experience.
